"A River not a Pond"
How well do you handle the things God has given you? the typical answer
might e "It is harder now that gas prices are up!" Jesus said "it is
better to give than to receive." (Acts 20:35) and he was pleased with
those who sought to give generously, from what they possessed. Are the
resources in your life flowing like a river, or collecting like a pond?

The Case of the Missing Bodies
Mystery Dinner Theater featuring
Frends of the Groom
September 5, 6, 7

Forest Dale Comes Full Circle with 2008 Dinner Theater
Everything old is new again at Forest Dale Church of Christ's
2008 Dinner Theater. Following two years of sell-out Dinner Theater
shows, the FDCC Music & Drama Ministry Team is bringing Cincinnati-based "Friends
of the Groom" to Springdale to perform "The Case of the Missing Bodies" on
September 5, 6, and 7. The doors open at 6:45 and the show begins at
7:00 each evening.
What would happen if Sam Spade, the detective from "The Maltese Falcon," met
Simon Peter from the New Testament? In "The Case of the Missing Bodies," the
Friends of the Groom Theater Company performs Acts, chapter 12 in the
style of a 1940's Humphrey Bogart detective movie. Playwright Tom Long
plays the lead.
Long is the director, playwright, and chief storyteller for Friends
of the Groom Christian Theater Company. Tom has an M.A. in Theatre from
the University of Cincinnati. His religious plays and musicals have been
published by Baker's Plays, Chorister's Guild, Hal Leonard Publishing,
Hope Publishing, and the National Christian Education Council of Great
Britain. His work has won two Telly Awards and a Dove Award nomination.
Forest Dale has been hosting annual dinner theater productions for nearly
a decade, and this isn't the church's first experience working with Friends
of the Groom.
"Friends of the Groom were here in 2002 and did a super job and
we wanted to have them back," says Forest Dale Music Director Jeannine
Geans.
The Friends of the Groom is an inter-denominational theater group from
the greater Cincinnati area. In the past twenty-eight years they have
performed plays, led retreat weekends, and conducted workshops in thousands
of locations from Anchorage to Canterbury. Friends of the Groom rehearses
at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Terrace Park, Ohio. The name refers
to the New Testament image of Christ as the bridegroom.
Forest Dale Dinner Theater tickets are $10 each and will be available
through the church office, 825-7171, starting August 10. All ticket sales
are final. Forest Dale underwrites a large portion of the cost of the
production in order to keep the event affordable for the community. Forest
Dale members work in the kitchen, serve the meal, and handle the A/V
technology for the show.
The evening will include a full meal with beverages and dessert
in addition to "The Case of the Missing Bodies." The program is suitable
for adults, teens, and children attending with their parents. Child
care is not provided.
